The Poultry Unit has embarked on selective breeding of local chickens, with focus to develop Kawangi phenotype into an improved dual purpose breed for increased egg and meat production, while maintaining low input production system that majority smallholder farmers can afford. The Unit keeps other breeds like Black Australorp, Kuroiler and Boschveld for research and to benchmark the Kawangi breed

Jumpha ASR also aims to operate irrigated farming to integrate with livestock, and recycle manure from livestock to horticultural crops, and crop residues to go to livestock. In addition, Jumpha ASR has a shop outlet that will soon open as an outlet of produce from livestock and crops.
